With The Math Mentors, students develop organizational skills, discover their motivation and engage their curiosity.

Meet Othelia Sierra, founder of The Math Mentors.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Millersville University in 2016 after completing an Associate's in Physical Science from Harrisburg Area Community College. After struggling to find employment after graduation she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

From an early age, she has enjoyed learning math and is grateful to have turned that passion into her purpose. Othelia's favorite subjects to tutor are Geometry and Algebra. Students admire her clear explanations and passionate approach to teaching.

For fun, Othelia instructs and performs acrobatics with The Circus School of Lancaster. She also enjoys sharing nerdy math puns with her friends.

Peter Anderson completed his formal education in 1988, and then engaged in a wide variety of employment pursuits over the years. In 2002, he began working with a small math curriculum publishing company, and during his 12 years there, he had the opportunity to gain math and teaching skills through courses and practical hands-on experience.

Having recognized the difficulty that many teachers face in trying to keep up with a rigorous teaching schedule while meeting the needs of a full classroom, Peter made the decision to focus on helping individual students gain an intuitive grasp of mathematical concepts. His greatest joys as a tutor are reducing students' fear of math and helping them to succeed academically. In his spare time, Peter enjoys honing his mathematical and teaching skills through continued study and practice.

Alex Hart graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in December 2018. While enrolled, he explored a number of extracurricular activities including the Millersville Philosophical Society, University Theatre, and WIXQ, Millersville's student run radio station. He also frequented the film club, creative writing club, and student government association. This variety of interests and involvement ultimately earner him the title of "Mr. Millersville Fall 2017" at the university's biannual Mr. Millersville pageant.

Alex has long had a passion for education; from student teaching to marching band instructing, and most recently improv comedy coaching, he boasts experience across a wide variety of teaching styles. Alex moved to Lancaster to pursue artistry in comedy and music and seeks to give back to the community. Alex will be assisting in the language arts portion of the SAT Preparation Course.
